IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities with Dallas Area Rapid Transit are investigating a fatal crash involving a Trinity Railway Express train in Irving. The incident happened at about 12:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
Officials with the transportation agency said that the train hit a vehicle in its right of way while heading westbound near Irby Lane.
Mark Ball and Morgan Lyons with DART both said that one person inside of the vehicle was killed. There were no injuries reported to passengers on the train.
Those passengers on the train were put onto a shuttle bus and continued their trips. However, other TRE passengers, particularly at the Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station, should expect some delays in service.
